Spotlight can be used to perform simple calculations, such as 12345*56789. Just type it in, and it spits out the answer.
Here is a quick rundown for keyboard mathematical symbols:

* is multiplication,
/ is division,
^ is to the power of (exponents),
! is factorial,
and then of course there’s + and - for addition and subtraction.

Happy quick counting!

Firefox includes tabbed browsing, a spell checker, incremental find, live bookmarking, a download manager, and an integrated search system that uses the user’s desired search engine.

Firefox runs on various versions of Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, and many other Unix-like operating systems.

Features

Here are Firefox’s top features:

One-Click Bookmarking. Bookmark, search and organize Web sites quickly and easily.

Instant Web Site ID. Avoid online scams, unsafe transactions and forgeries with simple site identity.

Improved Performance. View Web pages faster, using less of your computer’s memory.

Full Zoom. See any part of a Web page, up close and readable, in seconds.

Password Manager. Remember site passwords without ever seeing a pop-up.

Smart Location Bar. Find the sites you love in seconds—enter a term for instant matches that make sense.

Platform-Native Look & Feel. Browse with a Firefox that’s integrated into your computer’s operating system.

Installing Firefox

Download the Firefox.

If an Firefox window doesn’t open automatically, double click the downloaded file

Drag the Firefox to your Applications folder (Or wherever you’d like to keep it).

‘Eject’ the Firefox disk image, which has an icon of a drive

The Firefox disk image will still be present in your download folder (probably on your desktop). You can drag this file to the trash, as it is no longer needed.

Happy browsing!

If you’re a developer, or maybe more specifically, an aspiring developer, you have got to check out MAMP.

The acronym MAMP refers to a set of free software programs commonly used together to run dynamic Web sites or servers Mac, the operating system; Apache, the Web server; MySQL, the database management system (or database server) and Perl, PHP, and/or Python, scripting languages.

Somehow, MAMP is a place to test your website before you show it to the whole world. A great way to work and test things out is to install a web server right on your own computer. This way you work offline and if you mess things up you can just start over again without taking your site down or futzing with FTP and/or SSH.

Installing MAMP takes just a few minutes.

Installing MAMP

Download the MAMP disk image. Note that download managers/accelerators may interfere with this.

If an MAMP window doesn’t open automatically, double click the downloaded file

Drag the MAMP folder to your Applications folder (Or wherever you’d like to keep it).

“Eject” the MAMP disk image, which has an icon of a drive

The MAMP disk image will still be present in your download folder (probably on your desktop). You can drag this file to the trash, as it is no longer needed.

To install the widgets just copy them to ~/Library/Widgets. Please note that the widgets are only working under Mac OSX 10.4 or higher.

Navigate to the start page, http://localhost:8888/MAMP/?language=English or click open start page in MAMP, and then click the link to launch phpMyAdmin to create a database.

Gud lak!

Apple CEO Steve Jobs introduced the MacBook Air, a computer that the company billed as the world’s thinnest notebook — small enough to fit inside an interoffice mailing envelope.

The new machine features a full-size keyboard and LED-backlit 13.3-inch display with built-in iSight, and the new larger trackpad supports multi-touch gestures. Just like the iPhone, you’ll be able to pan around, pinch to zoom, and rotate with two fingers, and move windows with a flick. Apple got the size down by using the same 1.8-inch 80GB drive that’s in the iPod classic, but you’ll be able to order a 64GB SSD as an option. The Air eschews optical media, but there’s a separate external you can snag for $99 and Apple’s also announced a feature called Remote Disk that’ll let the Air get data off the optical drive in any PC or Mac running the Remote Disk software.

Adium has a feature called “message history”. When you open a new chat with a person, message history shows you the last n messages from your previous chat with that person, to remind you of the discussion from last time.

But how to view the messages older than n messages? Did you lost them all? I don’t think so

Chat Transcripts and Message History

By default, Adium records your chat transcripts (in a location which only you or someone with administrator-level access to your computer can view), making their full contents available for viewing and searching via the Chat Transcript Viewer and displaying recent messages when you open new chat windows.

How do I view my chat transcripts?

To see all logs, select “Chat Transcripts Viewer” from the Window menu.

To view logs of conversations with just one contact, select that contact, then select “View Chat Transcripts” from the Contact menu.

How do I disable recording of messages?

You can disable logging from the General pane of Adium’s Preferences.

You can disable in-window message history, which displays recent lines of conversation when you open a chat window, from the “Message History” section of the Advanced pane of Adium’s Preferences. In-window message history depends upon chat transcripts, so if you disable chat transcript logging, no message history will be kept.

Where does Adium store my messages?

Adium stores chat transcripts in:

    Your home folder
Library
Application Support
Adium 2.0
Users
Default
Logs

How do I backup or move my chat transcripts?

Backing up your history or transferring it to another computer is simple. You can copy the folder listed above from one computer to another, to a CD, or to another location for backup.

Just drag&drop the pictures that you have chosen on desktopia’s window, set the time, and you should have a beautiful desktop
